Pet Loss Bereavement Counseling, Support Groups, and

Finding the right emotional support while grieving the loss of your pet
is important. Our need to connect and our desire for relationships are
very real. It’s how we’re wired. We form relationships with our
family, friends, and others. We also create significant and very deep
emotional attachments with our pet companions. We care for our companion and in turn, our best friend provides us with non-judgmental affection and unconditional love. Research on attachment validates what pet lovers already know; that the bond we share with our pet can be even stronger than the bond we share with people. When this special bond with our pet is disrupted, we can feel emotionally devastated. After all, our pet was the one certainty we could always count on in our unpredictable, fast-paced life.

Talking about your loss is a very important step in healthy grieving.
Short-term Counseling for INDIVIDUALS, COUPLES, and your FAMILY is available.

SUPPORT GROUPS meet two times each month. If you’ve experienced the loss of your beloved pet, whether recently or long ago, if your pet is
terminally ill and you could benefit from spending time with others who
really do understand how a “pet” can be the love of your life, you are invited to attend. Bring your favorite photos, poems, or memorabilia. Talk with others who, too, have their story of love to share. Attend when annual birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays come around. Groups meet as follows:

1st Saturday of each month Noon – 1:30p
3rd Monday of each month 7p - 8:30p

FOUR-WEEK WORKSHOPS: Workshops run four days at 1-1/2 hours per meeting. Learn to deal with your loss on a deeper level and move toward healing. Receive psychoeducational information to better understand the grieving process. Connect with a strong support network. Experience a creative art project as a means to promote and facilitate healing. No prior art experience is necessary to participate.
